4 Months Old

I turned 4 months old on Saturday. Mummy decided to go by the 28th of each month now cos the weeks are just too tedious to count. By right I should be 17/18 weeks old. I'm not sure myself either. I weigh 6.1kg and measure 63.5cm, which puts me in the 50th percentile.

What I can do so far?
- Coo, babble, hold a "conversation"
- Laugh, giggle, chuckle
- Suck my finger(s), fist, but I still cannot find my thumb. drats.
- Flip but only in one direction. I'll cry when I'm bored in that position for too long cos I do not know how to flip back yet.
- Move backwards in a commando crawl
- Lift my head 45 degrees when on my tummy
- sit in my bumbo seat and supporting my head with my neck
- grab things and put them into my mouth

What happened to me?

Mummy haven't had time to post the last week cos I was sick since last Saturday. My first illness. sigh. Had fever on Friday night and my nose was runny with mucus on Saturday. Went to see a doctor below my home and she gave me some oral drops for my nose and eyes because there were some gooey things coming out from one of them. The whole week was traumatised by daddy and mummy cos they always wanted to take things out of my nose.

On Wednesday, daddy wanted to bring me to Malaysia again but there were alot of cars queueing up at the immigration, mummy suggested we go to Causeway point instead. Mummy bought me a cup with handles to help me wean off the bottle. But with my drinking pattern (I only drink milk when I am sleeping), mummy is wondering if the cup is useful now. Daddy bought another one of those nose sucking devices to take out the yucky stuff from my nose. I don't like it. Bleah!

Today, Friday, I went to see the doctor aunty again. This time for my injection and my oral vaccine. I didn't cry. :) Only made a few noise and I loved the taste of that vaccine. Mummy told the doctor aunty about what happened the last week and the doctor aunty gave me some new nose drops again. So many things dropping into my nose.

After that, mummy brought me to the national library at Compasspoint. But I was so tired that I didn't even bother to see what was around me. I am too young. Actually mummy brought me there to feed me cos its quiet and I was sleeping. Also mummy was waiting for Aunty R to go for lunch.

I got a book! My first book. Mummy got it for me when we were shopping in Kiddypalace for my pyjama top. Thanks to Aunty R in showing me the book and making me interested. hee. Mummy had no choice. :p

new toys.

I got more toys again today. My grandma bought them for me when she came with aunty Nita. Here's the pictures of the toys.

This is the Twirl & Learn Butterfly from Vtech. Here's how the toy works. Meant to learn from it. But I think I'll just enjoy the noise music and sounds first.

This is just something from Mothercare whereby I need to pull the bear and music will come out. Supposedly to make me sleep.

Anyways, see how I tame the wild animals. Muahaha.

Today...

...at 15weeks and 6 days old, I flipped from my back to the front. Yeah! But i got stuck with my hand underneath. I only flipped once and daddy and mummy didn't have the camera with them. When they wanted me to do it again, I was tired I wanted to sleep. Will show you next time when I'm more pro.

However, here's me inspecting my toys and my mattress.

TOYS

New toys always makes me happy. Not all are new. Some are rented some are passed down. Here's the toys that I recently own.

#1 The 1st Years Teether -- My grandma bought me this

#2 Tollyjoy Musical Lion -- Mummy couldn't find any picture for this. Also bought by my grandma.

#3 Fisher Price Learn & Laugh Phone -- Mummy took without asking borrowed from my cousin who is busy walking now and cannot be bothered with his toys.

#4 Fisher Price Wild Safari Linkadoos Activity Gym -- Mummy rented this for me to play for one month. It costs only $12.

I have a drinking problem

Recently, I am only fed milk when I am sleeping. This is because I don't like the bottle when I am awake. I will push away the bottle with wails and screams and also grab away the napkin to show my displeasure. That is why only when I am asleep, then daddy and mummy can feed me. Mummy read up in some forum that it is called the 3rd month syndrome. But to make it safe before going for my holiday, daddy and mummy brought me to the doctor aunty. This time, its a different doctor aunty that I normally see and she said that I have a congested nose. So she gave me some nose drops and some nose spray. But the nose drop seem to make my nose more stuffy so mummy stopped using it. I still do not like bottles and I am starting on a diet. Only drinking 60-90mls each time. If I am happy, I will drink 120ml. Daddy and mummy are quite worried. :P

I just came back from my holiday. The car ride was so boring and so long. I just slept all the way. Something like a 3hour ride on the car. We went shopping one day and some aunty selling some diapers gave me free diapers to try. How nice. Getting something without needing to pay. I like. Mummy brought along alot of things for me. Here's what she packed.
  • Avent iq24
  • 3x125ml Avent bottles
  • 1x150ml NUK bottle

New milk bottle

I haven't been a good girl recently. As what daddy and mummy says. Especially milk time, I like to be slim but yet they keep stuffing me with milk. So what I do is to just cry and scream and wiggle and struggle whenever I sense the milk bottle coming. How do I know when its coming? lay me down at an inclined level or put a napkin around my neck or tease me with the teat. Once all that is done or maybe even if just one of those is done, I will know and "fights" will start.

Daddy and mummy doesn't know what is happening to me so they are trying out loads of ways to try to make me drink. hee. First by carrying me around and at the same time feeding me. Then by tilting my head to the side to feed me. Then they started with buying me this bottle that is so long but with cute pictures on it. BUT the teat of that bottle is so small I think I can put the whole thing into my mouth and swallow it. :p

Then they went to buy another 2 bottles of the same brand. The teat looks bigger now and still with nice pictures. The bottle not as long as the first one but I can flatten the teat just with a few suckles. Mummy doesn't know if this is correct. Maybe my suckling power too strong for the teat. ;p

But..all these methods just didn't work for me. However I think I am drinking faster on the new bottles. I just want to go on a diet. Why keep stuffing me? Parents. Sigh. They just don't understand us babies.

A letter from Mummy

Dear baby

Today you turn 12 weeks old. I can still vaguely remember the day when you first popped out into our life. That first cry you made in the delivery ward and the looks on your face and the somewhat curly hair that was on your head when I first carried you in my arms, still dazed from the gas that daddy was feeding me with to ease the labour pains. From that day onwards, life for me has just taken a flight to another level. Now seeing your teethless smiles and hearing your laughter is something that will be etched forever in my heart.

Taking care of you single-handedly since you turned 1.5months old, it has been a very challenging but yet enjoyable time with you. Bonding with you at home just the two of us. Though right from the start even before you were born, mummy decided to breastfeed you fully but circumstances made it so hard for me and it was quite depressing during that phase of time. You love to sleep at the breast which makes it even harder. It was a struggle for me even to introduce to you the bottle and teat when you were just 3 weeks old. But mummy was concerned about your growth and you seemed hungry all the time, I had no choice gave in to the circumstances. However, having the thoughts of wanting to give up on breastfeeding, I still wanted you to enjoy the taste of natural milk. So from then until now, you have been drinking some breastmilk at least once a day. Although the amount that mummy express out cannot allow you to enjoy one full feed, I am glad that there's still some milk you can take. Thank you for helping me persever. Now you weigh a whooping 5.48kg (i think you gained somemore), I'm glad that you are growing well.

You have been a fiesty little girl, crying like as if there will be no tomorrow when you needed something, be it milk, change of diapers, bathing, changing clothes, etc. Till now, you are still crying whenever you have waited long enough for it. You seem to be growing faster than your peers (as what your PD says), having such strength in your legs, you can't wait to walk. Having such strength in your neck, you could turn your head while sleeping when you were a few weeks old. Having such strong vocals, you started cooing talking and holding a "conversation" when you were two months old. Having a love for music, you know how to sing along and friends who have witnessed that were amazed at what you can do. Teething is something which you may be experiencing right now as you love to put that fist of yours into your mouth and salivating.

You have your quirky patterns especially when it comes to milk time, we are still trying very hard to adapt to your ways. The things you have taught us (or at least me), are priceless. Praying that you would be a patient baby, ended up in God teaching us how to be patient with you. As small as you are, you are already a teacher to me and my prayer for you is that you will continue to grow and be strong, being God fearing and having the joy of the Lord with you always and being a blessing and gift to the people around you as you were a gift from God to us (That's how your name came about).

Though mummy will be heading back to work soon, I will miss taking care of you during those days when I have to be back in the office. Leaving you at your grandma's when daddy and mummy is in the office was not the ideal thing that mummy would want to do. Lookng after you myself would be the best. However, mummy may be able to look after you for the majority of the week and only 2 days you would be with your grandma. Hope that you will adapt well and grow well there. Being contradicting, mummy wants you to grow up but yet not grow up so quickly.

I'm sure there will be more intereesting things about you that both daddy and mummy is yet to find out. Will be looking forward to those days ahead. Happy 12 weeks old. :)
